Hot dog! Trade show results to relish.
Community planners and developers were treated to a meaty message about the freedom of choice, courtesy of the Vinyl Siding Institute and R/P Marketing Public Relations. VSI invited attendees at the American Planning Association’s national conference to their trade show booth with a tantalizing hot dog shaped mailer created by R/P. Inside, a selection of ketchup, mustard and relish packets emphasized that people should have the freedom to please their own tastes – a metaphor to persuade the planners to not restrict the option of vinyl siding in emerging communities.
The mailer invited attendees to the VSI booth to sample the quality, selection and style of today’s vinyl siding. The invitation was made more enticing with a hot dog cart serving free franks at the booth, as well as the chance to win a $100 gift certificate from Major League Baseball.
And the results? Out of 3,000 invitations, 600 attendees showed up for free hot dogs and 375 planners provided information to form a database for future communications. Frankly, that kind of return was something VSI really savored.
