The Vinyl Siding Institute (VSI) is the trade association for vinyl and other polymeric siding. R/P collaborated with the National Association of Home Builders Research Center to conduct original research to learn what drives builders’ decision making when selecting exterior cladding. Results showed that beauty and durability are what matter most to builders – attributes that exist in vinyl siding, but aren’t immediately associated with the product.
We developed a comprehensive manual, Designing Style: A Guide to Designing with Today’s Vinyl Siding, in partnership with architects, designers and builders. It shows through detailed illustration and real-life examples the beautiful design possibilities that can be achieved with vinyl siding in a variety of popular architectural styles. In addition, a series of print ads was created to highlight these architectural styles and the vinyl siding and accessories used to achieve them. This same tool has been adapted to create educational CEU webinars that help educate architects, designers, builders and remodelers.
Recently, we created an interactive version, available for download on VSI’s website, enabling designers and remodelers to more easily access and use the guide.
More than 5,000 Guides have been distributed, whether in print or via download.
